A 6 day / 5 night soft adventure activity
program in Bali
This 6 day program is designed for adrenaline junkies as we get your pulses racing with some of the most adventurous activities available in Bali. Splitting your time between Ubud & Munduk, you will peddle, abseil, paddle, hike and race your way through Bali.
You will be collected from the airport/hotel this morning and transferred to the Balinese countryside on the outskirts of Ubud.
Arriving at a small village, we will be welcomed by Pak Made at his healing house. Enjoy a welcome drink and some morning meditation with Pak Made, refreshing the body and soul, ready for today's waterfall trek.
The trek is quite remarkable as you will trek along a route only known by the local villagers and visit three unique waterfalls. Walking through rice fields where you can witness the farmers hard at work, jungle, coconut plantations and even upriver, today's experience is one for those with a sense of adventure.
Lunch will be served and enjoyed at the lover's waterfall—a sacred waterfall believed by the locals to symbolise the meaning of love. The waterfall is between two rivers, one river representing the male and the other the female. The specific waterfall is where the young Balinese come to declare their love. The young men will take their girlfriends into the lover's cave and tell them they love them. If their love is not true, they will upset the gods and be punished.
After lunch, we will trek upstream and through a canyon to reach the last waterfall, a secret spot only known by the locals. Here you can spend some time amongst the beautiful surroundings as you bathe in the refreshing waterfalls.
Feeling refreshed, we trek back down the river and up a steep set of stairs to the car park, where our driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.
The rest of the day is yours to be spent at your leisure.
After breakfast at your hotel, take a scenic drive through rice farming villages to the departure point for a private two-hour rafting adventure.
Paddle leisurely through the gentle waters as your knowledgeable guide explains the importance of the Ayung and its role in Bali's rice farming traditions - particularly the UNESCO-listed subak irrigation system that distributes water across the entire island using ancient sustainable engineering.
Enjoy the scenic journey through the river valley's wilderness dotted with virgin jungle, rice terraces and towering trees, and keep an eye out for local wildlife. Those feeling more adventurous can even hop out of the raft and float down a quiet stretch of the river through a natural tunnel formed by trees overhead. Stop for a break at a shrine beside a holy spring for a simple water purification ritual and offering.
Whilst white water rafting is extremely popular in Bali, and you will come across other rafting parties, it has to be said that this activity remains one of the most enjoyable things visitors can partake in on the island. It is not just the thrill of navigating through the rapids, but the sheer beauty of the scenery here is captivating.
As our river journey comes to a close, we make a riverside landing directly at the award-winning Four Seasons Sayan. Receive a warm welcome from the resort staff before being led along a trail which runs alongside the river, past rice fields, to a private picnic spot where a 'camp kitchen' has been set up. Before arriving at the picnic spot, we stop at a holy site where to make an offering.
The hotel's chef will prepare your lunch in front of you. Lunch will consist of a selection of Balinese favourites and will be served in a handwoven sokasi picnic basket. The menu includes grilled calamari and satays, a salad made with the freshest herbs and vegetables (including some from the resort's garden), rice grilled inside banana leaves, and a refreshing iced dessert. A delicious and extraordinary experience immersed in nature.
After lunch, you will be transferred back to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.
Departing from your hotel in the early morning hours, we drive East to Kintamani. Located at 1,200 metres above sea level, the climate can become quite cool, so make sure your dress appropriately.
Reaching the base of Mount Batur, we will undertake a two-hour trek in the dark with only the light from our torches to the top of one of the calandras – a height of 1,717 metres.
From this vantage point, you will have a magnificent sunrise view over the crater and a panorama of Mount Abang, Mount Agung and Mount Rinjani and Lombok island (subject to weather conditions and visibility on each day).
The ground of this active volcano is quite hot, and your guide will demonstrate this by cooking you up an egg to snack on using the volcano's heat. After enjoying your unique snack, we will take a walk around the rim of the volcanic cone to see the crater site of the last eruption in 1999 before descending the volcano to meet with the driver and transfer back to the hotel.
After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and transfer to Munduk. A mountainous region located in the north of the island, Munduk makes for the perfect area to enjoy many adventure activities.
Today's activity covers a total of 20 km distance and will last approximately four and half hours. You will spend two and a half hours driving an ATV, forty-five minutes walking through the rainforest, and thirty minutes log canoeing.
Arriving at the Munduk Wilderness Base Camp, you will receive an introduction and safety briefing for driving the Finn Komodo before taking a fun drive down to the lake and boarding a log canoe and paddling across a section of Tamblingan Lake.
Head up into more challenging territory through mandarin and coffee orchards, along dirt tracks to the rainforest.
Take a break for a short walk into the rainforest to see the grandeur of trees more than 100 years old.
Bali is famed for the rich flavour of its coffee, and the first stop is a coffee plantation where you will experience some of Bali's local coffee culture — the roasting of the beans on an open fire and pounding with a wooden pestle.
Enjoy a cup of coffee before driving your Finn Komodo to the Green Circuit. Here you will enjoy a couple of rounds of racing fun to get your adrenaline pumping!
Enjoy the short 20-minute drive back to Munduk Wilderness Base Camp for an early dinner/late lunch before transferring to your Munduk hotel.
The rest of the day is yours at leisure.
Departing from the hotel this morning, we are in for an adrenaline-packed day, canyoning at the Egar canyon in North Bali.
Egar has exquisite waterfalls and rock features surrounded by beautiful forests. This canyon has everything to offer; incredible jumps ranging from 2 meters to 4 meters, flumes, vertical rock slides and awesome waterfall abseils. Egar Canyon has something for everyone with varying abilities.
Arriving at the base camp, enjoy a light breakfast while listening to the safety briefing from your expert canyoning guide before suiting up in your canyoning gear and trekking through the beautiful jungle to the canyon itself.
Here you will spend the next two and a half hours tackling the thrilling natural obstacles. You’ll descend and explore the canyon, abseiling (rappelling) waterfalls, plunging into natural pools, floating down natural passageways and careen down natural water slides. At the end of the adventure, enjoy some time relaxing with a soak in a natural hot spring.
Whilst no previous canyoning experience is required, a moderate level of fitness and the ability to swim is required.
You may choose the level of challenge you want throughout your trip, and the expert adventure guides are on hand to instruct you through every adventure. They can provide alternative routes for any obstacles you may feel uncomfortable taking on.
After your canyoning adventure, you will enjoy lunch at the base camp before returning to your hotel.
Considering the activity taken, the remainder of the day is open to be spent at leisure.
No activities are planned this morning. However, the Munduk area is full of beautiful walks that beckon those that wish to explore the area further.
Check out from the hotel this morning in time for your onward travel to the next destination.
