A 10 day / 9 night culinary adventure in Bali
A 10 day / 9 night culinary adventure in Bali
This ten-day program is designed with foodies in mind. Exploring the island of Bali, tasting the local produce, while encountering some exceptional dining experiences. This ten-day program will feed your soul with pleasure, from cooking classes to waterfall dining.
This morning, you will be collected from the airport/hotel and transferred to Canggu, located on Bali's southwest coast.
Canggu has transformed from a sleepy surfers resort to one of the island's most trendy locations. Home to some of the island's best beach clubs, stylish restaurants and Instagram worthy cafes, Canggu is a foodie's heaven. It is the perfect starting point for our foodie adventure in Bali.
Spend the remainder of the day at leisure, relaxing at your hotel or exploring the local area. If a walk along the beach is more your style, we recommend the walk from Canggu to Pererenan and enjoy the sunset at one of the small beach bars or a beach club.
Dependent on your sense of adventure (and tastes), you may choose to dine at one of the many incredible raw food eateries and Balinese Warungs that line the streets.
TYou have the morning and early afternoon at leisure. The objective is for you to enjoy the chilled vibe of Canggu, visit its many boutiques and cafes and/or relax at one of the beachside eateries before we explore the far reaches of the island in the days to come.
From your hotel, we transfer you to Mamaka Hotel, where we will enjoy some drinks and light nibbles at the rooftop bar. From this elevated spot, we can enjoy views from the Bukit peninsula right up to Canggu. Your guide can show you from an elevated position the beach clubs that we will visit today, as well as point out some of the key spots along the West Bali coastline.
After enjoying the drinks it’s time to head across the road to the beach where our electric beach bikes will be waiting. The bikes are powered by a battery and electric motor and your guide will introduce you to the bikes and how to control the speed by either peddling or using the throttle.
After the short briefing, it's time to jump on the bikes and ride along the beach from Kuta to Seminyak, avoiding all the traffic, while taking in the beach vibes and sunset views as we cycle along Bali’s sandy shores.
Our first stop is Ku De Ta, Bali’s original sunset destination. Since its launch in 2000 Ku De Ta has become an institution in Bali and offers an upmarket, unpretentious ambience cast in a sleek silhouette. Here we can choose from an eclectic offering of drinks which includes everything from contemporary tropical twists, to iconic classics, and a few signatures also thrown in. Your choice of cocktail/mocktail will be paired alongside small bar bites inspired by the island’s seasonal produce.
A short ride from Ku De Ta is Poatoehead beach club, the first hospitality company in Indonesia to be declared climate neutral by the UN. The beach club takes the form of a giant amphitheatre built from brushed concrete and reclaimed wood. Here we are in for a treat as we enjoy cocktails that experiment with house-blended Balinese-arak and bitters to give a Balinese twist to some of your familiar favourites. They also have a good selection of locally inspired mocktails, if you would prefer a non-alcoholic option.

From Potatohead we continue our ride along the beach past the W hotel & 707 Beachberm (both popular sunset spots) until we reach Mari Beach Club. Mari is the newest beach club on the Bali scene and has received glowing reviews. The beach club has Balinese culture and design at its very core and presents itself with an original approach to your typical beach club venue. As this is our final stop the chef will prepare a selection of dishes for you to share a “family style” dinner and cocktails as you watch one of Bali’s famous sunsets. After dinner, your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel by private vehicle.
After breakfast, we transfer to the West Bali National Park on Bali’s Northwest Coast. The journey will take around four and a half hours, including refreshment stops.
Check-in at the hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure.
Later in the afternoon, you will be met by a resort team member and escorted to the jetty. You will experience a private, intimate and unforgettable sunset trip cruising along the peninsula to Gili Putih, the land in the middle of the ocean.
Savour a lavish BBQ dinner overlooking a picturesque sunset, the ocean and mount Baluran. A dedicated private butler and private chef will be at your service.
Return to the hotel after sunset and enjoy the rest of the night at your leisure.
You have the morning at leisure.
Wander into the forest with an experienced ranger and savour an eloquent safari picnic lunch at a thousand-year-old mangrove forest.
After that, experience the beauty of the park on horseback. Take in the views of the forest and beach, guided by trained staff who tailor each trek to suit your riding ability.
You then head into the Endemic Tree Plantation Program area. As this remains Bali's only national park and its last remaining natural forest, this program encourages regeneration and education of the island's natural ecosystem. Your name will be engraved on a wooden placard alongside your endemic tree.
In the late afternoon, you have the option to explore at your own leisure. You may wish to use one of the resorts Kyaks to explore the nearby mangroves or borrow one of the resort bikes and enjoy a leisurely cycle ride through the national park. Both the use of kayaks and bicycles are available as a complimentary service from the resort. However, we do recommend reserving these the night before as there are limited numbers available.
Evening at leisure back at your hotel.
After breakfast, we depart from the hotel on the scenic drive along the north coast and into the countryside, where we will reach the village of Kayuputih, the starting point of this morning's trek to Banyuatis waterfall.
The villages of Banyuatis and Kayuputih are renowned for their Coffee and Clove Plantations. Guided by a local trekking guide, we will walk through the traditional villages. The guide will introduce you to the friendly locals and give an insight into how coffee, papaya, cacao, and mango fruits are harvested in Bali's northern mountain region.
Descending through a lush tropical forest to Banyuatis waterfall, you are greeted by your personal waiter. They will show you to a private table set up for you to enjoy a delicious, freshly prepared picnic lunch with a bottle of sparkling wine.
After lunch, we are met by our driver and transferred to Munduk, where you will stay overnight.
Check out from the hotel this morning as we transfer to Ubud, Bali’s cultural heart.
En route to Ubud, we will step into a chocoholics heaven with a visit to a local chocolate factory. Here you can observe the entire process of transforming organic cocoa beans into delicious Balinese chocolate.
Located between verdant rice fields, this facility is one of the few places in the world where chocolate is made only minutes away from where it is grown. The tour starts with a short walk through the cocoa plantation, where you will learn how the plants are grown and harvested, ahead of being fermented and dried. Then it is time to see the chocolate-making process in action with the grinding, crunching and tempering stages as the liquid chocolate is poured onto a table and smoothed until perfection.
After lunch, you will move to a nearby field, see first-hand how rice is cultivated, and join the locals in planting some rice seeds.
Departing the chocolate factory, we continue to Ubud, stopping at the Sangeh Monkey Forrest. Giant nutmeg trees as high as 40 metres fill this sprawling forest, which sacred Balinese monkeys call home.
The monkeys are friendly, curious and drawn to shiny food, so visitors are advised to hide these away or leave them in the vehicle.
After exploring the monkey forest, we continue to Ubud and check into your hotel.
Be sure to skip breakfast this morning and make room for today's culinary exploration in Ubud.
Balinese cuisine is synonymous with the 'Food of the Gods', and today's activity gives you an insight into its heavenly creation. Beautifully crafted, Balinese feasts represent a combination of creative culinary art and food culture. The local people – predominantly Hindu – hold cuisine in high importance in terms of both religion and traditions.
Asian food is considered some of the best food in the world. Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese & Japanese have become household favourites in the west, but Indonesian and, in particular, Balinese Food still remains relatively unknown.
Like most things in Bali, the Food here is a fusion of many different cultural influences over time which have fused together to make something quite special and unique. The Food in Bali is entirely different to what you can find anywhere else. Even when compared to neighbouring islands such as Java & Lombok, Balinese Food remains unique.
In today's tour, we take away from the hipster cafes and trendy restaurants to get an insight into the tantalising flavours of local Balinese Food. There are no smoothie bowls to be enjoyed and not an Avocado insight as you join us on this culinary adventure.
We will visit vendors carefully hand-picked by reliable Indonesian food enthusiasts, feast at traditional markets, and sample some of Ubud's most exotic Food, including delicious desserts.
Guided by a professional guide, this five-hour tour combines walk and ride activities to markets and food merchants that will reveal Ubud's best-kept secrets. Expect to sample a hearty meal while enjoying scenic nature.
In the afternoon, visit Escape Nomade.
Escape Nomade believes in retaining the old-world luxury of lying down peacefully on a sunny afternoon in nature
Royal High Tea presents its guests with a handpicked bouquet of flavours and aromas, set amidst towering palms, wild birdsong, and of course, their signature tented villas.
While basking in nature and the company of old friends, you will be led down to the riverfront for a Balinese foot massage, followed by a sumptuous high tea in one of the well-appointed dining tents and lounge.
The experience is completed with a Balinese dance performance before you depart and return to your hotel.
The remainder of your day and evening is at your leisure. Our Travel Expert will be on hand to provide entertainment and dining recommendations.
Check out from your hotel this morning as we transfer to Jimbaran on Balis south coast.

Today we visit Telu at the Four Season Bali Jimbaran. Telu is an aromatic herb and cocktail garden that serves as a dedicated space for Head Bartender Sufian Mahmoud to lead zero-waste bar workshops.
Telu's open-air design features 100 per cent repurposed and up-cycled materials and an Arak Cellar. Here, Sufian's next infusion matures in antique clay pots and up-cycled glass bottles.
You will learn about the traditional uses and medicinal benefits of arak (Balinese rice wine). Take some time to forage with Sufian in the garden to pick your favourite spices and herbs before getting behind the stove with the hotel's head bartender.
Sufian is renowned for his unique culinary approach to cocktail-making. He slow cooks liqueurs, simmers marmalade, and infuses pure arak with the flavours of homegrown plants.
Finally, Sofian will show you the secrets behind the cocktail experience that he heads up at Sundara Beach Club. Now, you will learn the recipes and expert tips to take home as you mix up your own tasty cocktails to enjoy.
Your cocktails will be served at Sundara Beach Club alongside a fresh seafood platter. Enjoy the sunset views over the ocean at one of Bali's best sunset spots.
