A 4 day / 3 night discovery program exploring the natural wonders of Phang Nga.
A 4 day / 3 night discovery program exploring the natural wonders of Phang Nga.
Just north of Phuket, Khao Lak offers a peaceful escape with lush forests, white sand beaches, and tranquil resorts. Explore nearby Phang Nga Bay’s national parks, pristine islands like the Similans and Surins, and the charming town of Takua Pa. Don’t miss Samet Nangshee viewpoint—an unforgettable panorama that captures the beauty of this serene Andaman hideaway.
Upon landing at Phuket International Airport, we begin our journey to Khao Lak in Phang Nga, stopping along the way to explore the mysteries of Khlong Sang Neh by canoe.
Known as the “Little Amazon”, and still one of the best-kept secrets in the area, Khlong Sang Neh boasts a vibrant ecosystem with a rich diversity of local plants, birds, and reptiles. The river we paddle down is framed by curiously twisted strangler-fig trees hanging above - hornbills, monkeys, and snake species can be spotted along the ride.
We proceed to our accommodation for check-in.
The afternoon is free at leisure. This evening, we will be treated to a Michelin dining experience set in the falls themselves: surrounded by hundreds of candles against a backdrop of falling water, lush jungle, and the calming sounds of nature.
A wonderful welcome to a wonderful part of the worl
This morning we start at Tablamu pier to take our speedboat to the Similan Islands.
Located just 67 km west of Khao Lak, the Similan archipelago is one of the most sought after destinations in Thailand. Consisting of 11 islands, Similan is truly a natural wonder, both on land and sea. Under the surface lie some of the most spectacular coral growths in the world, along with fish of various species such as: manta rays, whale sharks, dolphins, moray eels, and many more, with options for diving or snorkeling. This little archipelago is ranked by National Geographic as one of the top 10 dive destinations in the world.
Today’s first stop is Island 9 (Ba Ngu) and a visit to the stunning Coral Bay. This bay is a prime example of the diversity in coral and marine life on display in the region. We will spend some time exploring this bay and snorkeling, then our cruise continues to Island 8 (Donald Duck Bay). Here a steep but manageable climb to the top of Sail Rock rewards us with an amazing view.
After the hike, we have some leisure time to cool off in the ocean or relax on the unspoilt with sand beach.
At noon, we’ll be served a home-cooked lunch with seasonal fresh fruits as a picnic on Thailand’s most beautiful beach. Then we depart to Island 7 (Payu Island) for the second round of snorkeling. Our final stop is Island 4 (Mieng Island) - the location of Honeymoon Bay & Princess Bay. When it’s time, return to Phang Nga.
For those who enjoy the first light of the day, we recommend visiting Khao Khai Nui at sunrise. With an altitude of 200 meters above sea level, Khao Khai Nui offers a cool atmosphere and spectacular views, especially in the early morning while an ocean of mist swirls between limestone cliffs and tropical mountain tops.
After breakfast, we travel to Takua Thung district and in the afternoon we will cruise around majestic Phang Nga Bay, touring in a laid-back long-tailed boat. At the time we depart, most visitors are on their way back, meaning we have Phang Nga to enjoy almost to ourselves.
First is the famous James Bond Island, also known as Koh Ta-Pu, with its signature rocky pinnacle and captivating surroundings. Just a 15-minute ride from James Bond island, we arrive at Koh Panyee, a unique village built out over the surrounding shallow sea on stilts, with a giant rock monolith guarding behind.
Next, we visit Tham Lod, a cave whose entrance is about 50 meters wide and 40 meters high, only allowing small boats to pass through the cave. For the final stop, depending on the tide level of the day, we will visit either Koh Sa Ang or Tham Kaew. These sites remain relatively secluded, and not many visitors have heard about them.
When we’re done exploring, as slowly make our way back to our hotel, we have the chance to see the sun setting over these dramatic and picturesque formations
Note: Kayaks for Phang Nga Bay during the boat ride can be arranged. If you are interested, please advise your travel expert.
Samet Nangshe is panoramic viewpoint in Phang Nga. It offers remarkable views overlooking the limestone islets of Phang Nga Bay, and the largest mangrove forest in Thailand. The viewpoint is stunningly beautiful throughout the day but it gets even more striking at sunrise.
We will look out over a chain of islands stretching to the horizon on both sides of the bay.
After check-out, we set off for Phuket International Airport (approx. 50-minute drive) and on to our next destination.
Note: For those who have more time, we recommend either adding an extra night at Khao Lak or extending a couple of nights to explore Phuket prior to your departure flight.
For intrepid explorers of culture and architecture, if your flight departs in the afternoon or evening, we highly recommend a visit to Wat Bang Thong (75-minute drive from Samet Nangshe).
Situated in Ao Luek in Krabi and relatively new (15 years old), Wat Bang Thong is a magnificent Buddhist temple built in the Putthakaya style. Adorned with life-sized elephants, nagas, monkeys, and hundreds of Buddhas, it is reminiscent of a Hindu temple or even a Mayan pyramid. The central golden pagoda is almost 70 meters high, said to be one of the highest Chedis in Asia, yet still remains quite unknown to tourists.
